As we get closer, everyone on the committee is working furiously to make this, Costume-Con's 30th appearance (29th Anniversary), the most fun you've ever had with your clothes on! LOTS of clothes!!

Along with all of the events you expect to see at a Costume-Con, we have included some exciting new things. First, the Costumers' Runway event, which is loosely based on the popular Project Runway, is our most ambitious. Second, we are bringing back the Quilt Exhibit and Competition. Third, our charity project, the Cactus Hand Puppet and Soft Sculpture Exhibit, in which all of the entries will be donated to Los Niños Children's Hospital. There are a couple of other things that are still in the "talking-about" stage, but I'm certain that this will be a CC to remember!

We also have two Costumer Retrospectives planned. Bjo & John Trimble have agreed to do theirs, and so has Lance Ikegawa. They each bring different costuming backgrounds to share with us, and I know all of us "old timers" are excited to see them! PLEASE remember to bring your cameras!

For those of you newcomers who may not know me, I've been attending, competing in and working on Costume-Cons since CC 3, missing only a few in that time. I also judge, MC and direct masquerades, and I compete in the Master Division. I'm a member of both the Sick Pups (NJ/NY) and Southwest Costumers' Guilds, which is great, since both chapters share the same slightly strange sense of the absurd. I am so excited about this con! The whole committee is excited, too, and we want to share that excitement with you.

We'd like to point out that an interesting source of costumes for the Historical, the Friday Night social or just for hall costumes would be Movies that Feature (or were filmed in) Arizona. Among many others, these films include: "The Baron of Arizona", "What Planet Are You From?", "Nightfall", "Fire in the Sky", "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure", "Eight-Legged Freaks", and 70 years of films utilizing Old Tucson Studios (mostly westerns, of course)... instead of naming them all, here's a link you can follow. We look forward to seeing all of you there, and we hope you will be telling everyone you know to come join the fun. The hotel is great, lots of restaurants and shops are within a few blocks, and all of your friends – old and new – will be there!
